FAMULUS Abschlusssymposium

“Simulations in teacher training and medical education: automatically analysing diagnostic processes and promoting them adaptively “

Dear Professors,

Dear Colleagues,

Dear Researchers,

Dear Students,

in the name of Prof Dr. Martin Fischer from the Institute for Medical Education at the University Hospital, LMU Munich, Prof Dr. Frank Fischer from the Chair of Education and Educational Psychology at the LMU, Munich and of Prof Dr. Iryna Gurevych from Ubiquitous Knowledge Processing (UKP) Lab of the Technische Universität Darmstadt

you are cordially invited to come to our conference: “Simulations in teacher training and medical education: automatically analysing diagnostic processes and promoting them adaptively “.

The conference will take place in Munich on November 29th, 2019 in seminar room E. 081 in the polyclinic (Pettenkoferstr. 8a, D- 80336 Munich). The official language of the conference will be English.

It will be the final symposium for the FAMULUS project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), within the context of the “Digital higher education“ (“Digitale Hochschulbildung”) funding line.

Through FAMULUS we have contributed to the implementation of national educational standards for teacher training and medical education.  For this purpose, we have provided a teaching system which encourages active interaction with the learning contents and which stimulates learning processes, while focusing on practical application. Thanks to innovative approaches from the areas of Natural language processing and machine learning, the implementation of certain epistemic-diagnostic activities can be automatically detected in diagnostic reasoning. These approaches thus provide a promising starting point for the analysis of diagnostic processes in real time. With its adaptive feedback component, this method could also spread in other areas, and be applied beyond the fields of medicine and teacher training (for further information see www.famulus-project.de)

The aim of this symposium is to stimulate interdisciplinary discussion about adaptive learning system, form further research alliances and translate research results into educational practice.

In order to better plan the event, I kindly ask you to write a mail to Mara Maticevic by October 31st , 2019 if you are interested in participating.
